The Product Marketing Manager – Software Solutions will work with fellow product marketing managers and engineers to develop seamless solutions of both hardware and software for our customers.  It is the goal of Synaptics to offer a complete solution to our customers without distinction between hardware and software components.  The product manager will also work with fellow product managers to develop a competitive and winning solutions roadmap. 

 

The Software Product Manager will take a pivotal role in ensuring that customer related technical issues are resolved quickly and professionally.  Additionally, the software product manager will lead the company in championing the development of an active and thriving ecosystem for Synaptics products and technologies.  Finally, the software product manager will lead engagements with Independent Software Vendors to ensure Synaptics Products are well supported.

  • This position reports directly to the Vice President Marketing, PC Division
  • Partner with Product Marketing Managers to develop complete solutions roadmap for our customers
  • Support technical engagements with customers with an emphasis on the software component of the solution
  • Partner with product engineering to ensure that customer related issues are resolved in a timely and professional manner
  • Lead engagements with ISVs to ensure there is excellent support for Synaptics Products and Technologies
  • Champion the development of a thriving ecosystem for Synaptics Products and Technologies within the company
  • Manage the Software Product Marketing Engineer
  • Manage the SDK efforts
  • Become a spokesperson with press and other industry professionals
  • Assists the development of company market requirements for Synaptics solutions utilized in PC and PC HH peripheral-class products (defined as, but not limited to, slates/tablets, remote control, printers, keyboards, etc.)
  • Core responsibilities include product strategy definition, product market requirements analysis with an emphasis on the software component of a solution
  • Monitors market changes and adjusts marketing strategies accordingly to remain competitive
  • Monitors the development of key business plans, managing lifecycles, and product positioning in the PC and peripheral marketplace
  • Assist in market research, monitors competitive activity and identifies customer needs
  • Independent, self-driven individual identifies, creates and manages business relationships with select companies to develop solutions and/or create complementary products/services
  • Ability to travel at least 40% of the time, mostly to locations in Asia and Texas

 

     

Required Qualifications

 
     
   
  • BS in Electrical Engineering  or Computer Science degree
  • 7+ years of relevant experience working within a high technology and/or software development environment
  • Minimum 5+ years in PC market (PC Peripherals  and Windows experience is a plus) 
  • Strong software knowledge of Windows and other Operating Systems, with particular knowledge of drivers and firmware
  • Strong marketing and high level technical understanding of the importance of “systems-level” solutions
  • Experience with Independent Software Vendors would be ideal
  • Experience in developing and managing technology roadmaps
  • Experience in assessing different customer needs, analyzing what specific technologies would meet those requirements, and determining which approaches are the best solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to establish new relationships and build credibility among multiple stakeholders, customers and partners
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, keen business acumen
  • Outstanding collaboration skills in working with cross functional teams to develop new products and capabilities
  • Experience in negotiating contracts with suppliers, vendors and customers
  • Excellent skills in resolving conflicts, disputes and creating good team collaboration
