The position will have responsibility for contributing to the development of fundamental technologies for Synaptics’ future growth.  Handset Architects at Synaptics play a critical role in fostering innovation within Synaptics by leading and coordinating teams of highly skilled technical contributors to the successful completion of mobile handset platform projects.

Working with Touch and Display architects and product managers to ensure cohesive end to end solution, As such, our candidate needs very strong and diverse engineering and science skills in developing and commercializing mobile systems and solutions. Thinking outside the box and challenging the conventional wisdom is strongly encouraged!  Here is an opportunity for you to roll up your sleeves and contribute directly to shape the future our Handset solutions. 

We are seeking a team-oriented individual with excellent problem solving skills, self-driven with a keen technical mind and an eye for detail.  He or she must be effective in a fast-paced, highly technical R&D environment. System-level analysis, modeling and design are central to this position.  Excellent architecture and design skill including use of design patterns and UML are a plus. Knowledge of industry standards and protocols relevant to the mobile space including.   SoC Chipset, Excellent presentation and documentation skills a must

Key Responsibilities:

·       He or she will be expected to combine broad technical skills, technical lead skills and people skills to oversee a talented multi-disciplinary design team

·       Mobile Handset Modeling and comprehension of complete system architecture

·       Integration of power, bandwidth and cost, including Apps/SoC, Display radio baseband     

·       Goal is for optimization of system for improve performance and user experience.

Required Qualifications

• Engineering/Science Master Degree or PhD Preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant mobile/handset experience, plus 3 year’s experience with technical lead responsibilities such as team leadership, influencing and motivating co-workers, project definition and guiding team execution.  Must effectively communicate and interact with other internal departments as well as senior management.
• Broad technical experience is essential. Skills in some or all of the following areas are necessary:
  • Mobile Handset system architecture
  • Radio/RF HW architectures and interfaces
  • Battery Backlight
  • SOC-Developing hardware reference platform
  • Video ,Touch Sensory
  • Memory Architect Sensors
  • Camera accelerator, ALS,GPS
• Rigorous and methodological approach to problem solving
• Hands-on design, bring-up, test and debug skills
• Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate and drive R&D technology projects
• Effective multi-tasking capability
• Attention to detail!
• A strong desire to win in the marketplace.
