TMC HealthCare
TMC HealthCare is Southern Arizona's regional
nonprofit hospital group with Tucson Medical Center
and El Dorado Hospital at its core. As community
hospitals, the staff comes to work each day to
use their skills and expertise to improve the
health of the entire community.
We recognize that our most valuable asset is
our employees! Through competitive pay practices,
an excellent benefits package, career opportunities
and a philosophy that emphasizes a balanced life,
our diverse staff shares a common goal - quality
care.
TMC HealthCare supports education and opportunities
for those interested in a health care career.
Our on-campus "TMC U" supports health
care education for qualified employees. We also
collaborate with K-12 education to provide opportunities
to those who recognize the value of a health care
career.
In January 2005, TMC HealthCare announced plans
to build Rincon Community Hospital on the city's
Southeast side next to the Civano neighborhood.
Plans call for integrating Civano's concept of
sustainable and healthy communities into the facility
and patient-care processes that center on patients
and their families.
Tucson Medical Center
Tucson Medical Center traces its roots to the
world-famous tuberculosis sanatorium, the Desert
San, which opened in 1927. The sanatorium's owners
donated the facility to the people of Tucson during
World War II, and TMC was established as a community
nonprofit hospital in 1943.
TMC offers:
- Southern Arizona's largest Emergency Department
and the only
- Children's Emergency Center
- Intensive Care Units for adults, children,
newborns and cardiac patients
- Tucson's leading heart and stroke care center
- Tucson's premier birth center, with more than
5,000 newborns annually
TMC is licensed for 609 adult and skilled nursing
beds, 62 psychiatric beds (Palo Verde Mental Health
Services) and 90 bassinets. The hospital has several
emphasis areas, including maternal and child health,
cardiac care, hospice, neuroscience, oncology,
orthopedics, diagnostic services, behavioral health
and senior services.
El Dorado Hospital
El Dorado Hospital, with 166 licensed beds, offers
many services to Tucson's Eastside residents;
including an Emergency Department, non-emergency
Ambulatory Care, a full range of Cardiopulmonary
and Cardiovascular Services and a Critical Care
Unit.
The Rehabilitation Unit is an acute-care, 18-
bed Medicare-certified unit. Our therapy services
provide a variety of in-patient and out-patient
programs. We also offer a diabetic life skills
educational program and Generations, an in-patient
psychiatric treatment program for people 65 and
older who suffer from depression, anxiety, early
dementia and other age-related psychiatric disorders.
