The
Tampa Tribune first spread news of the
day to Tampa's 10,000 citizens in 1895.
Now the Tribune, owned by Richmond,
Va., communications corporation Media
General, provides news to more than
622,000 readers daily and almost 800,000
on Sunday in Hillsborough, Pinellas,
Pasco, Hernando and Polk counties. In
addition, it provides news and information
to readers in a way most newspapers
cannot.
On
March 20, 2000, the Tribune's newsroom
moved into a $40 million complex. That
and the original Tribune building in
downtown Tampa make up a two-building
campus called The News Center. Together
with TBO.com and WFLA-TV News Channel
8, the Tribune offers area residents
reliable, consistent news, as well as
the resources of three of the most trusted
news services in community. And, it's
the only converged media location in
the country to house a network television
station, a newspaper and an online service.
Our
vision of the future includes convergence:
delivering content to customers however
and wherever they want it. Through convergence,
we bring together the strengths of newspapers,
television stations and web sites to
coordinate the best local news coverage.
Convergence strengthens the quality
of our journalism. By becoming the preferred
local source of news, information and
entertainment, we are able to deliver
a higher quality audience to our advertisers.
And with the multimedia advertising
packages we can provide through convergence,
we also gain the ability to generate
new revenues.
In
addition to print and broadcast journalism
we also offer rewarding careers in areas
such as circulation, advertising, marketing,
operations, production, finance and
accounting.
Today,
The Tampa Tribune ranks as one of the
top 50 largest newspapers in the United
States and one of the fastest growing.
WFLA-TV is the number one ranked TV
station in Florida. And Tampa Bay Online
is the leading local news website in
Florida.
The
Tampa Tribune is a reflection of our
community, and those who live here.
The Tampa Tribune is the Tampa Bay area's
newspaper.
